as i perambulated the alley,a rat's sillhoette zimphed accross the picture my mind was trying to make of the alley.my eyes darted to follow it,marking its point of disappearance.i went over to the drain, squatted down.
i dunno what it is with me and rats;we've always had a sort of wordless affinity for eachother,it used to freak my mother out so badly.i'd be down in back of our 19th ave appartment playing with them, teaching them (or tricking them into) tricks.there was zis one, rangy to me,that would run around madly kissing the others if i told him,"go zeegy-zeega,rangy,zeegy- zeega! ".he wasn't the only mental one.like i sais, this freaked my

A Child's Favorite Artist
My favorite artist as a little kid was my mum, though I had no notion of this; she was never seriously involved in it, but I suspect having too much spare time as a kid and loving horses to obsession (hereditary, perhaps?) helped develop her sklls to such a formidable level.
There's still a picture of me from when I was about 7 or 8 years old. It was just a simple pencil sketch, and took maximum all of a half hour. It's good enough to have been used as a sub for a missing persons sketch. And that is after she was about 8 years out of practice if not more (aside from drawing me horses, that is).
I should ask her to draw again; it'll be the fi
You save a spider
by caring that it's alive

or find its eith-of-an-inch mandibles not at all endearing
You save a spider
by knowing it to be fellow lifekind
You save a spider

go on to save the plantain by the mailbox
go on to save a tree
go on to save a forest,a mountain,
a river,a stranger,a bird,yourse
Will waved a greeting to the various callers at the Gaedon Pint as he made his way toward the kitchen ( his pseudonym for bedchamber).
"Oh,Willie-o, come an' 'ave one with us, will yeh? Get it? WILL yeh?" A pint familiar broke into raucious laughter , backslapping one of his drinking mates overenthusiastically and making him lose his fresh-gained mouthful of meade back into his waiting mug.
"What'd y'say? Sleep calls so loudly I can hardly hear aught else," said Will, and with a wink-grin, he ducked into the back.
The kitchen maid, Arien, noticed and acknowledged Will in the same glance as she kneaded.
" I'd go to bed if I were you, She's

I walk out the door, nearly blind to the dark, I know the way, though. Left out into a , into the biggest yard space, where it is the middle of a gentle hill.My bare feet joyfully catch the dew. I breath deep, smell the air. The after-an-all-day-drizzle air. Sniff, scent it more.
I caress low-hanging maple leaves to my face, share their rain residue with ultimate pleasure, breath deep, smelling. Kiss the leaf, smell again.
I bend to the earth, smelling. I bend again, burying my face in the wet grass, washing my face in dew. Kiss. Ultimate pleasure in my love, my home.
I smell the maple leaves again. A bright

Life consumed by: music school, good people, trees, and of course, learning.
Over the summer I was in China on tour with one of my orchestras. Among the pictures I took in Hongzhou, there was a serendipitous snapshot of a barrel making young man which can be found on here now.
I am now at Uni for Harp, and solfege is a dream come true. To look at a score and be able to read it like a page from a book (I'm not that good yet, will get there!)... it is wondrous.
So, I've had ALL of my college auditions. Peabody really did not go that well as far as accuracy, but apparently they look for the Other Things like technique and empassionedness. Ah well. It's a duel between Eastman and Duquesne, if I get into both, it'll be a toughie.
And now, for the new repertoire! so refreshing....
College apps are a total bitch, esp. if you're homeschooled. They've gone all over backwards to make it easy for every one, and it's like I'm a woman applying to Harvard when there was a separate college for the gals, except, it's not just gals...
Tomorrow I go down to the boathouse and see how much I can bring my 2K time down by. Right now it's a tragic 8:28.8. WOuld it were under 8, then I might just be able to get it to gimme some college money.
Edvard Grieg was a wise man when he said "I have not the least doubt that school developed in me nothing but what was evil and left the good untouched."
Thank the gods I quit my classes weeks ag
